Garden Gate Before Installation. |
Garden Gate Installed Four pintles were set in the stone pillars by the masons. Drop pins, secured in place by nuts, keep the gate in place. Two holes were drilled in the patio stone where the drop canes go. |
Garden Gate Opened Latch is up and the drop canes are designed to turn to either side to keep them from dragging and marking the stone. |
Drop Cane Detail When cane is straight a small knob keeps it from dropping to far (drops to set depth). When cane is lifted and turned toward hinge the knob catches at the correct height to prevent the cane from draggin and marking the stone. |
Hinge and Pintle Details Pintles were set 6-8" into pillar. Drop pins, secured in place by nuts, keep the gate in place. They allow the gate to swing both ways. |
Latch Detail Latch swings up and clockwise to release gate. Joint is firm enough to hold latch in place (it will not fall down on its own). Scrolls make decorative handles. |
