CJ Forge Blacksmith

Blacksmithing Classes, Custom Ironwork & Fabrication, Hand Forged Hardware, Handcrafted Furniture, and Fine Metal Art.

What is CJ Forge?

CJ Forge is a hands-on blacksmithing class where you step into the world of fire, steel, and craftsmanship. This is not a group demonstration—you’ll work directly at the forge, shaping hot steel with your own hands under the guidance of a professional blacksmith.

Do I need prior blacksmithing experience?
Not at all. Most of our students are complete beginners. You’ll receive personalized guidance every step of the way—so you can feel confident and successful, even on your first strike.

Is blacksmithing safe for beginners?
Yes. Safety is a top priority. With individual instruction, we are able to closely guide you and ensure a safe, controlled experience.

Who is this perfect for?

  • Someone who wants a unique, hands-on blacksmithing lesson

  • Someone looking for a meaningful gift (instead of more “stuff”)

  • Couples or pairs looking to do something memorable together

  • Anyone curious about working with their hands

What will I make during a class?
Each class is designed so you can complete a beautiful, functional piece—such as a hook, tool, or decorative item. You’ll leave with something solid, handmade, and uniquely yours.

What makes CJ Forge different from other workshops?
CJ Forge offers private lessons; unlike large group classes, you’ll work directly with a professional blacksmith in a focused setting. That means:

  • More hands-on time

  • More guidance

  • A better finished piece

This is craftsmanship—not crowd instruction.

Booking & Scheduling

How do I book a class?
Booking is simple—select your class, choose a date, and reserve your session online. Because sessions are limited to one or two participants, availability is intentionally limited.

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking well in advance. Sessions tend to fill quickly, especially weekends and gift seasons.

Can I reschedule my appointment?
Yes. With advance notice (72 hours), we’re happy to help you move your session to another available date. Please contact us via email or phone.

What is your refund policy?
We do not refund no shows or accept cancellations.  In the event you need to reschedule please contact us.  Classes may also be transferred to another person.

What is included in the price?
Everything you need:

  • Materials

  • Use of professional tools and equipment

  • Use of safety gear

  • Personalized instruction

  • Your finished piece to take home

Gift Certificates

How do gift certificates work?
Purchase online, and the recipient can book their class at a time that works for them. It’s flexible, easy, and always appreciated.

Is this a good gift for beginners?
Absolutely. No experience is required, and we specialize in making first-time blacksmiths feel successful and proud.  This is one of the most memorable gifts you can give. Instead of another “thing,” you’re giving them something they’ll remember every time they see what they made.

What to Expect During Your Class

What is the class like?
You’ll work side-by-side with a professional blacksmith in a focused, hands-on session.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty and dirty. Natural fibers like cotton are recommended. The forge is located in a warehouse type building.

What should I bring?

We will provide water bottles and safety glasses; feel free to bring your own water bottle if you would like.

What time should I arrive?

Please do not arrive before the start time of the class; the shop does not have a place to wait before class starts.

What happens if I am running late?

It’s understandable that minor delays happen; in the event you are running late for a scheduled class, please contact us.

Will I be working with real fire and tools?
Yes—you’ll use a real forge, hammer, and anvil. This is an authentic blacksmithing class.

Is it physically demanding?
There is moderate physical activity, but most people find it enjoyable and manageable—especially with personalized pacing and instruction.

Safety

Do you provide safety equipment?
Yes—safety glasses are provided.

Are there age restrictions?
Yes, minimum age requirements apply to ensure safety. Participants must be at least 13 years old to attend the 1-person class; younger participants may attend the 2-person class when accompanied by a parent.

CJ Forge offers private, small-format group events (up to 4 participants). This ensures quality, safety, and a highly personalized hands-on session. Please email us to schedule a group session.
